How we pick
The smallest share of Google and Yelp reviews that complain about the work, among companies with at least 15 reviews we read; reviews from the last two years count double. Only companies in the top 30 of our Sacramento ranking qualify, and none whose score is held at 45 for complaints about the work or a rating under 4.0. One company can lead more than one pick. Our method.
Why it matters
Homeowners trust star averages less than what reviews actually say, and stars can be bought. We read the reviews and count the ones that complain about the work itself: gaps, lifting planks, uneven transitions, unfinished jobs.
